Leach Makes Waves at Paddle UK HQ with Exciting Rebrand

The Brief

In 2024, British Canoeing rebranded as Paddle UK to reflect the organisation’s vast range of paddling activities and evolving membership demographics.

As Professor John Coyne CBE, Chair of Paddle UK, notes, the objective was to better represent “Every Paddler, Every Craft, For Every Type of Water.” The refreshed brand identity included new primary colours and a new logo with a paddle-shaped capital P, which is repeated as a key brand element.

Since 2018, we have partnered with and sponsored Paddle UK for various events, such as their ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup and Delivery Partner Conference. So, when we were briefed to rebrand their headquarters, we set out to develop a custom graphics, signage and display suite.

The Solution

Paddle UK planned to officially announce its rebrand in March 2024, so our project managers worked closely with all stakeholders to ensure the fit-out was ready for the launch.

We first visited the site to understand Paddle UK’s new brand and explore potential concepts and areas for installation. In the design and proofing stage, our team applied the new brand assets to the graphics to ensure everything aligned. We communicated with key stakeholders throughout so that the final designs were ready for production.

Outside the HQ, we applied vinyl wrap to corrugated walls, featuring Paddle UK’s new logo. Due to the ridged surface, we had to plan several steps to ensure installation went smoothly. We assessed the ridge depths, prepped the walls and fixed them precisely so no distortion appeared. We used external-grade vinyl so the print would remain unaffected all year round.

We also fixed a large Dibond (aluminium composite) external sign on the side of the building, which was complete with Paddle UK’s logo, brand elements and directions to guide visitors.

To create an inviting ambience, we installed a single sheet of Titan wall covering with a welcome message printed on a dark blue background. The wallpaper’s washable finish ensured it was safe from fingerprints, scrapes or scuffs. For every internal window, we applied frosted vinyl so employees could work in privacy, along with reverse-printed vinyl for meeting rooms. Wayfinding door plaques accompanied these printed wall coverings so visitors knew exactly what direction to take.

Our team also produced a tension frame system paired with 100% recyclable eco-screen fabric. These interchangeable fabric graphics are designed to be replaced so Paddle UK can switch and update their graphics when seasonal events like the Olympics arrive.

Taking Paddle UK into a New Chapter

Paddle UK’s rebrand and new HQ fit-out have received great acclaim from all key stakeholders. The wall coverings, signage and displays not only effectively convey the updated branding, but the new signage also ensures that visitors enjoy their experience at Paddle UK HQ.

Robert Knott, Director of Strategic Affairs at Paddle UK, said,

“We have been delighted to work with Leach on bringing our new Paddle UK name and identity to life at our headquarters in Nottingham.  The quality of work and attention to detail has been first-class.  The concept of bringing the outdoors inside, with river-themed window coverings for our meeting rooms, has created a stunning feature for our office space.”

Will Binns, Business Development Manager at Leach, adds,

“This project was a great opportunity to launch Paddle UK’s new brand to the public. The wall coverings and signage proved an excellent solution for increasing brand awareness and recognition. We can’t wait to roll out Paddle UK’s branding at any of their next events.”
