The Queens College
11 metre lightbox brings 675 year old university of Oxford story to life
In 2016 The Queen’s College, Oxford celebrated its 675th anniversary. The iconic story and ancient history would be celebrated with old members at a special anniversary gala.
The Queen’s College required an impactful display and timeline of events that would not only showcase its historic milestones but also leave a lasting impression in the guests mind.
Every week, Leach works with high quality heritage establishments throughout the country, to inspire the visitors that come to see their sites and attractions. The vibrant team also creates ‘wow factor’ environments for brands, retailers and trade shows. This was a great opportunity for the two distinctly different skill-sets to come together and show just what is possible with intellectual input, design creativity and product innovation.
A state-of-the-art 11 metre long timeline was created by Leach, with the design, production and installation of the 11 x 2.5 metre atmospheric lightbox all carried out by our in-house team.
Leach took the project from concept to installation in just one week, meticulously conveying the College’s journey from 1341 to the present day. The eye-catching, yet flexible display system was then assembled by a two-man Leach installation team in only 90 minutes, in readiness for the 800 guests who enjoyed the College gala.
This impactful commemoration of historic events was installed in the College’s Front Quad cloisters, and revealed at the anniversary gala for Old Members and their families.
Visitors from throughout the UK, Europe and as far afield as South Africa and the USA gathered for The Queen’s College celebrations. The timeline has since welcomed freshers and students at the start of the new academic year.
