The Brief

Having worked successfully on The Titanic Exhibition in Belfast, Leach were commissioned to work alongside Tandem Design to manufacture, build and install graphics and interpretive furniture for the restored SS Nomadic vessel. These units had to be produced to counter the slope and lean of the vessel in its dry dock – not an easy proposition!

Our Solution

Constructed in segments, we were restricted by the narrow openings and door ways of the vessel and had to design construction principles accordingly. Working within the conservation status of the steam ship, we had to take great care in not affecting in anyway the original fabric of the vessel, or the beautifully restored interior.

A striking external interpretive signage scheme, complete with audio and tactile interactives was manufactured using Leach VAULT graphic signage and specially manufactured Corten steel frames.

The resulting exhibition is a stone’s throw from the main Titanic Experience and is well worth a look.
