The Brief

Leach were commissioned by Workhaus to work on this British landmark and true icon of maritime history.

Leach’s role included:

  • Product design and specification
  • Project Management
  • Timber printing and shaping
  • Sackcloth printing and stitching
  • Timber flame-branding
  • On-site screen printing
  • Hand stenciling
  • Lambda Graphics
  • Internal wayfinding
  • Logistics
  • Installation and site works

The Solution

We were keen to provide an interpretive scheme that worked alongside the fantastic vessel and helped develop a subtle yet beautiful graphic scheme. This involved printing curved pieces of timber, mimicking the lines of the ship’s hull, digitally printing an entire cargo of tea chests, not to mention a ship’s hold full of printed sacks!

The result is truly inspirational and provides the visitor with a glimpse of working life aboard the Cutty Sark, whilst telling its story with genuine interest.
