Our impressive new piece of kit, the SwissQ Nyala 2, produces the highest quality rigid graphic panels ever. Its incredibly small ink droplet size of 9 pico-litres gives a visual resolution of over 2000dpi on pieces as large as 3.2m x 2m. Solid colours are super smooth and the colour gamut and accuracy are superb, meaning the most demanding of quality requirements can be satisfied. And these levels of quality can be produced at good output rates meaning this is not a process only for the small jobs.
But the key to the applications we have in mind for this machine is revealed by looking inside the print carriage, where not only will you find colour print heads but also white, primer and varnish print heads.
The primer head allows for good ink adhesion on unconventional print substrates such as glass, spray painted surfaces, metal surfaces and the fullest range of plastics. Many of these materials are difficult for digital inks to adhere to, but the primer system delivers really durable products on these substrates.
The white ink system allows for colour correct printing onto clear and coloured substrates in selective areas.
And the selective varnish allows the designer to create subtly impressive finished effects.
All in all, this process allows the creation of beautiful quality printed pieces on unusual rigid materials which will really engage audiences in visitor and brand environments.
